Pskov State University (PskovSU) is the largest educational institution in the Pskov Region and one of the largest universities in the northwest of Russia; hundreds of students graduate it every year. It was founded by merging of 5 leading educational institutions of the Pskov Region:

• Pskov State Pedagogical University
• Velikiye Luki Civil Engineering
• Pskov College of Civil Engineering and Economics
• Pskov State Polytechnic Institute
• Pskov Industrial College

Each institution had its own history and traditions, reputation, successes in its field of work, its own creative staff with great teachers, scientists, and public figures.

The university is distinguished by the presence of a powerful infrastructure, including 22 educational and laboratory buildings, 11 student dormitories, the Student House, the Universant pool, the Center for Student Initiatives, and a medical rehabilitation center with a university clinic.
